Hello from Mr G

Hi Guys

Thought I would just touch base. I hope you are all keeping safe in your bubbles.

On Saturday I took part in the ANZAC Service at the end of my driveway. Normally I go out to Burnham, so this year was a bit different. After the service I went for a walk around to my local War Memorial. It was very cool to see that people had made poppies and but them on it. It was also great to see that the flag was at half mask. Do you know why they do that?

Did you do anything special for ANZAC day?

I have been super impressed with all the learning that you have been doing at home. I really like how you have all done something that you are passionate about. I have been working on my skipping and I got up to 700 skips the other day. I was very tired after I did it but I am glad that I kept going at it.

Keep sending in what you are doing and take care in your bubbles.

  1. Hi Mr Gibson. It really was a different way to show our respects on ANZAC morning 2020. Thank you for sharing how you spent your ANZAC day. I wanted to go to the war memorial where I was, but it was too far to be walking during Level 4 lockdown. I wonder how some of the Kererū children spent their ANZAC day?

My sister where I was staying during Level 4 lockdown was feeling really creative and she made poppies from red New World bags and permanent markers, she also used her farm stays to blue tac a huge poppy so it wouldn't blow away, she also made a lantern out of a unused plastic milk bottle which was so cool, and lastly she used a Christmas lantern and blue tacked a big poppy to it, they all looked really beautiful when everything was set up.

Many people on her street came to their driveways it was extra special. Also a man several houses down was playing the sound of the bugle on his phone just at the right volume, definitely an experience I won't forget, and sharing that with my family, such value!
